The Von Neumann Model
The Von Neumann model consists of five major components
- Input Unit → Provides instructions and data to the system
- Memory Unit → Stores the instructions and data provided by the Input Unit
- Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU) → Procecess the the instructions
- Control Unit → Directs the ALU in the processing of instructions
- Output Unit → Recieves the results
The ALU and control unit are frequently referred to collectively as the
central processing unit → CPU

The System Bus Model
This model partitions a computer system into three subunits:
- CPU
- Memory
- Input/Output (I/O)

The communications among the components are by means of a shared pathway called the
